I’m Jeffrey Stoy, author of The Mill Bay Detective Agency series, a collection of youth mystery novels that blend adventure, technology, and everyday family life.

A few years ago, my son was diagnosed with dyslexia, and I wanted to create something that would make reading feel exciting and personal for him. What started as a heartfelt family project quickly became a published book and the beginning of this series.

My own reading journey started with challenges too. As a child, I struggled in school until a teacher recognized that I needed help building the fundamentals. With her support, I gained the skills and confidence that turned me into a lifelong reader, and that experience still shapes the way I write for young readers today.

I grew up reading series like Hardy Boys: Casefilesand the Tom and Liz Austen novels by Eric Wilson, and those stories inspired me to create The Mill Bay Detective Agency for my own kids. In these books, Jack (and now Georgia) solve mysteries, explore technology, and face challenges with creativity, determination, and the support of family and friends.

I’m continuing to expand the series and am currently working on the third book, new editions of the earlier titles, and audiobook versions of each installment.
